There are three medical requirements for ALL International students (part-time and full-time) studying at the ESL Center:

Longest Student Health Center Logo

Chest X-rays
All chest x-rays must be done on campus at the Longest Student Health Center. The ESL Center will make appointments for all new students the first week of class.

MMR Vaccinations
Students will receive their first MMR vaccination along with their chest x-rays unless they can provide proof they have been vaccinated before arriving on campus. Students who have had the vaccinations need to bring the completed Immunization Form as proof. Click Here for more information about the MMR vaccination.

 Health Insurance
Proof of insurance must be shown within 9 days of the start of classes. Insurance must meet the following criteria:

  • Medical benefits of at least $75,000 per person per accident or illness
  • Deductible must not exceed $500 per accident or illness
  • Company’s co-insurance must pay at least 80% of covered medical expenses after deductibles are met
  • Repatriation of remains in the amount of $7,500
  • Expenses associated with medical evacuation in the amount of $10,000

MSU Health Insurance - Mississippi State University offers an insurance plan that meets these requirements. The application is available online, or it can be purchased at the Student Health Center insurance office.

Alternate Health Insurance - ESL students are not required to purchase the MSU insurance plan. Students purchasing insurance from another company must bring a copy of their policy to the ESL office for approval.
