Every student who comes to the United States to study English at the ESL Center must enter the country on an F-1 visa. Once the ESL Center receives your application, we will process an I-20 for you. This document, along with the acceptance letter that we will send to you, can be used to obtain a visa. You will need to make an appointment with the consulate or embassy to interview for the visa. 3. What do I take to the visa interview? You will need the following documents:
4. What is the SEVIS fee and how do I pay it? The SEVIS fee is a $100 fee that every person applying for an F-1 visa after September 1, 2004, must pay before going to the visa interview. It can be paid:
5. How much time before I want to study do I need to apply for a visa? The time required varies from country to country. We suggest that you apply to the ESL Center at least two months before you wish to study. Immediately after receiving the acceptance packet, you should schedule an interview at the consulate or embassy and pay the SEVIS fee.
