Conversation Partner Program

Would you like to learn more about another country? Would you like to practice a foreign language with a native speaker? If so, then consider becoming a conversation partner!Students Reading

The English as a Second Language (ESL) Center is proud to sponsor the Conversation Partner Program, a free, volunteer-based outreach program aimed at bridging the gap between American and international students.

What is a Conversation Partner?

As a volunteer in the Conversation Partner (CP) Program, you have the opportunity to meet with a non-native speaker of English for conversation, friendship, and culture.  You choose when and where to meet your partner. We only ask that you meet at least once a week, and spend at least half of the time speaking English.

American students: To request a Conversation Partner, simply enter your information by clicking the button below.   A program coordinator will contact you with information about your partner.

Please Note: Requests cannot always be fulfilled and are not guaranteed (unless you are a female requesting a female partner). Most of our international students come from Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Rarely do we have European students. In addition, American partners must be native speakers of English.
